Walailak University Students Shine at WU SLA International Speech Competition 2026
The English Program, School of Liberal Arts, Walailak University successfully, organized the WU SLA International Speech Competition 2026 on 1 August 2026.This annual competition provides an international platform for students to demonstrate their public speaking abilities, exchange ideas, and strengthen cross-cultural understanding through the use of English.
This year’s competition welcomed 13 contestants representing four countries: Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Participants delivered persuasive speeches on the theme “Influencers Have More Impact than Traditional Leaders,” demonstrating outstanding critical thinking, persuasive communication, and global perspectives before a distinguished panel of judges.
Three representatives from Walailak University’s English Program, School of Liberal Arts, Mr. Worasorn Boonkeard, Mr. Pichayut Bunjerdlerd and Mr. Sakda Promnoon received Silver Prize, Silver Prize and Bronze Prize respectively. Their achievements reflect the students’ dedication, confidence, and strong command of public speaking in English.
The competition reflects the English Program’s continued commitment to promoting academic excellence, English language proficiency, and intercultural communication while fostering meaningful international collaboration among students and educational institutions.
