English Program Organizes Academic Collaboration and Cross-Cultural Learning Program in Malaysia

The English Program, School of Liberal Arts, Walailak University, successfully organized the “Academic Collaboration and Cross-Cultural Learning Program in Malaysia” from 4–8 July 2026 in Penang, Malaysia. The program brought together 32 English major students, accompanied by 3 faculty members and 1 staff member, providing participants with valuable international learning experiences and opportunities to enhance their English communication skills in authentic settings.

A highlight of the program was the academic exchange at the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation (SoLLaT), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), where students participated in English communication activities, academic discussions, and cultural exchange sessions with USM students. Faculty members from both institutions also explored opportunities for future academic collaboration and student exchange initiatives.

The participants also visited the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Penang, where they gained valuable insights into the role and responsibilities of Thailand’s diplomatic missions abroad. The visit broadened students’ perspectives on international affairs while inspiring them to pursue future academic and professional opportunities in global contexts.

Throughout the program, students explored Penang’s rich cultural and historical heritage, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town and other significant cultural landmarks. These activities promoted intercultural understanding, global awareness, and experiential learning while strengthening students’ critical thinking, communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills.

This program reflects the English Program’s commitment to providing students with meaningful international learning experiences, fostering global citizenship, and strengthening academic partnerships with overseas institutions to prepare graduates for success in an increasingly interconnected world.
