English Program organized a seminar on academic discussion entitled “Think Critically, Speak Academically: From Media Literacy to Strong Discussion.”

On January 25, 2026, the English Program organized a seminar on academic discussion entitled “Think Critically, Speak Academically: From Media Literacy to Strong Discussion.” The seminar was moderated by two third-year students, Hattawan Pituk and Aslam Pattanakul.


The event began with a talk by Mrs. Ade Sissca Villia from the Health Polytechnic, Ministry of Health, Bengkulu, Indonesia, regarding media literacy and critical discussion. She emphasized the significance of consulting credible sources, especially scholarly articles, to bolster arguments in academic discussions.

Aj Anggi Auliyani Suharja from the School of Languages and General Education delivered the second session, focusing on “Core Academic Discussion Skills.” She introduced key language expressions and discussion strategies aimed at making academic interactions more effective and meaningful. The session also included guided practice and engaging activities to help students apply these skills.

The seminar concluded with an award ceremony recognizing students who demonstrated outstanding performance in group discussions. Overall, the seminar is expected to encourage students to apply the acquired skills to enhance their academic learning and communication development.
