36 Contestants Worldwide Join WU SLA International Speech Competition 2025

Summary On the 30th of August 2025, the English Program, School of Liberal Arts, Walailak University hosted “WU SLA International Speech Competition 2025”.  The online competition was held via Zoom and aimed to provide students from various institutions in Thailand and abroad with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities, exchange perspectives, and foster academic networking between educational institutions. This year’s competition marked its fifth edition, with 36 contestants worldwide, including Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, China, Myanmar, Russia, and Thailand. All contestants delivered their prepared speeches on the topic of “The Role of Gen Z in Shaping the Future”. After the prepared round, 10 finalists passed to the impromptu round.

Toward the end of the competition, the winners were announced:

  • First place winner, Ms. Amber Louise L. Adricula from the University of Santo Tomas.
  • Second-place winner, Ms. Athena Alessandra S. Cruz from the University of Santo Tomas.
  • Third place winners, Ms. Patricia Gina Sagat from Universiti Sains Malaysia and Mr. Egor Shishlov from Saint Petersburg State University.

The English Program would like to congratulate all the winners, as well as all of the contestants, for their outstanding performance. We would also like to thank the judges, audience, and organizing team for their participation in this year’s WU SLA International Speech Competition 2025.
