The English Program, School of Liberal Arts, Walailak University, organized the online “3rd WU SLA International Speech Competition 2023” on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. The competition was held via Zoom and aimed to provide students from various institutions from Thailand and abroad with the opportunity to demonstrate their academic knowledge and abilities, exchange perspectives, and experiences, and foster academic networking between educational institutions.<\/div>\n

This 2023 competition marked its third edition, with 23 students from various universities in Thailand and other countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan. The contestants commenced the competition with a prepared speech on the given topic.<\/div>\n

Ms. Kanyanat Sakkanayok, Head of the project and Lecturer of the English program said that in line with the dynamic in Education, the participants will be given a maximum of 5 minutes to deliver the speech on Artificial Intelligence in learning. After that, 10 finalists will proceed to an impromptu speech round where they will be given a related topic to talk about.<\/div>\n

The competition winners were announced: Mr. Nattanon Yuzo, a second-year student from the English Language Program, School of Liberal Arts, Walailak University, received the First-Place Trophy. Ms. Minna Lim from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University won the second-place prize, followed by Mr. Lutfi Fadilah Firdaus from Indonesian Railways Polytechnic awarded the third-place prize.<\/div>\n
